we ordered main bearings for a john deere model B, year 1952, part# ab4273r, and the oil galley hole is offset by 1/8 of an inch as compared to the original, and does not line up with the oil hole in the housing,, the original measures 1 1/8 inch from the side without flange, part received measures 1 1/4 inch,,, no help from Deere, or manufacturer ( federal-mogul ) has anyone else ran into this problem???? if so,,, where did you find the correct bearings??thanks gregg

'Fraid I can't be much help. You might post on the discussion boards at http://www.ytmag.com/ I read the Ford board regularly, and there are some folks that know a lot about '50's and earlier Fords. I guess parts are what I call bearing inserts. Too bad that it's probably not a left/right problem. Also too bad the top and bottom halves probably aren't symmetrical. Then, a dumb solution like ordering two sets and drilling proper holes in the second set solid halves might work. From the description, I can't tell if the engine code and serial number went with the order. Also if JD is saying what was received is the right part or if they're saying that the parts aren't available. You'd think that JD could determine the right parts and part availability from an engine code and serial number. ....

Gregg, I am also restoring a '51B however the rod bearings is as far as I had to go. There are others but I have found an excellent site for restoring old JD's. Go to www.johnnypopper.com and then go to their bulletin board.
